Click here to go straight to our recipes

It's just crazy not to make smoothies for kids, in fact it's a no brainer!

Every child loves a smoothie and it's such a great way to get them to take fruit and vegetables at which they might otherwise turn their noses up.

Ask a child if they would prefer to eat an orange or drink an orange smoothie?

Kids nutritional needs

Children need a balanced diet - this means giving them a good mix of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Fruit and vegetables should form a large part of their diet and smoothies can help as they can even disguise fruits and vegetables that children might dislike.

Proteins - for growing muscles, skin and hair
Carbohydrates - for energy
Fat - for energy and vitamins
Vitmains - for digestion, healing and growing
Minerals - for building strong bones
Fibre - for a healthy digestive system

Offer water

It's all too easy with today's life style to forgot how valuable a simple glass of water is. Water cleans away toxins and waste products while keeping the kidney filters going, with the added bonus that it is cheap.

If your child is allergic to dairy products use alternatives such as soya milk or coconut milk. Today thank goodness there are many non dairy ice creams in the supermarket to choose from so it shouldn't be a problem finding something suitable for your child. For more suggestions visit our non dairy page.

Remember when you are making smoothies for kids they can develop an allergy to anything so introduce new fruits and vegetables slowly to their diet just to be on the safe side.

There are so many different combinations of smoothies, the list is endless, just get those creative juices working!
