Lemon Detox Diet Recipe

A lemon detox diet recipe is an extreme way of flushing out toxin from your system although it can also be a very successful way of changing bad eating patterns. Really it's a bit like going cold turkey!

Some people use it as a way of losing weight. Yes, you can lose weight with the lemon detox but I wouldn't recommend it for this purpose as there are better healthier ways. This diet is purely for detoxing.

Many people report that, after they have used the lemon detox diet recipe for a few days, they feel incredibly energised.

This diet is almost a faste and should not be carried out without first consulting your doctor. We recommend 3 days maximum.

Some people say that the lemon is "the worlds most potent superfood" : this is because they are full of potassium, vitamin B and vitamin C which can help prevent many illnessess. As far back as the 1600s sailors would be encouraged to eat lemons while away at sea to prevent scurvy. Scurvy is a nasty disease which can cause bleeding gums, thinning hair, depression, exhaustion, and blue and black spots. So you can imagine how important it was that the sailors received their daily doses of vitamin C through lemon juice. In fact in England it became so important that a law was passed to make sure the sailors got one ounce daily.

When buying your lemons for your lemon detox diet recipe keep these tips in mind. lemon detox

1. Pick the lemon up and feel it. The lemon should have smooth skin. The smoother the skin the tastier the lemon will be.
2. Pick medium sized lemons rather than bigger ones. The bigger the lemon the less flesh they usually have.
3. The lemon should feel firm to touch and be a nice deep yellow in colour.
4. Avoid lemons which look as if they have been damaged ie they have bruises.
5. Choose organic fruit whenever you can.
6. Store your lemons in a cold cupboard or a cold room. They will normally last about two weeks. You can refrigerate lemons but it's best to use them at room temperature to get the maximum juice out of them.
  • 2tbl of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2tbls of maple syrup
  • sprinkle of finely ground cayenne pepper
  • 10 oz of bottled water
Mix the ingredients together and pour into a glass to drink. While on the lemon detox diet recipe, at least 10 glasses a day should be drunk. You can warm the drink to make a change, but don't boil, as this will destroy some of the nutrients in the lemon.
