Our yogurt smoothie recipes are my favourite.
I love yogurt and by adding a little fresh fruit it makes for a yummy drink.

If you are watching your weight - beware. You might think that yogurt and fruit are all things which are healthy and low fat, which of course they are, but even the healthiest of foods can add up in calories if you eat enough.

Why is yogurt good for you ?

Yogurt is milk with added bacteria, or to be more accurate, milk with fermented bacteria. Sounds horrible, doesn't it! However these bacteria are very good for your intestines and good health.

If you have ever been on antibiotics then you may have been advised by the doctor to eat lots of yogurt afterwards. This is because yogurt helps restore the balance in your intestine, preventing things such as fungus infections which are so common after treatment.

Yogurt is very easy to make and we recommend, in order that you can make our yogurt smoothie recipes regularly, you buy a yogurt maker for convenience and economy.

We should all be eating more fruit and vegetables and our yogurt smoothie recipes go a little way in helping you eat more fruit.

We have some recipes below to give you ideas but don't be afraid to experiment with your own recipes and ideas. We have chosen to use bananas because they have the ideal flavour and texture to go with yogurt - but go ahead and be creative!
Fresh Fruit Smoothie - Apricot and Banana
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 fresh apricots
  • 150ml natural yogurt
  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional)
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass with ice or 1 scoop of ice cream - and serve.
Fresh Fruit Smoothie - Kiwi and Banana
  • 150ml natural yogurt
  • 3 kiwi fruits
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 pear
Remove the peal from the kiwi fruit and banana. Keep a slice of kiwi to decorate glass. Top and tail the pear. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a cold tall glass. Decorate the glass by putting the slice of kiwi fruit you kept onto the rim.
Fresh Fruit Smoothie - Peach and Apple
  • 150ml of natural yogurt
  • 150ml of peach yogurt
  • 3 peaches
  • Add a little apple juice, if desired.
Stone the peaches and place with the two yogurts into a blender. When smooth, add a little apple juice, if desired.
Fresh Fruit Smoothie - Bananas and Strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 6-8 strawberries
  • 150ml yogurt
  • 1 scoop of strawberry ice cream (optional)
Peel the banana and take the stalks off the strawberries. Put all the ingredients into a blender including ice cream and blend until smooth. Serve in a glass with ice.
