Mangos can be found growing throughout the tropics from Australia, Asia, Africa to the Caribbean.
Mangos have iron and fructose in them, therefore giving you lots of energy, making a mango smoothie
a good drink for anyone who is active.
Some of the popular varieties of mangos are Alphonso, Julie, Bombay, and Ruby mangoes.
This is one of my favourite fruits as I have a sweet tooth : however if you eat them under-ripe they can
taste a bit acidic.
When buying mangoes inspect them for black blemishes as this could indicate that they are over ripe.
The best test of a mango is its smell which should have a light aroma to it. If you can't find any fresh
mangoes then use canned ones.
Mangoes can be frozen as long as you use an airtight container or bag.
Make Mango Smoothie Ice CubesCut the mango in half, avoiding the stone. Score the flesh with criss cross lines both ways, trying not to cut through the flesh. Turn the flesh inside out to make it look like a hedgehog. Now taking a knife cut the squares away from the flesh. Make Mango Smoothies exciting by freezing these squares and using them frozen, instead of ice cubes, in your smoothies and juices.
