The health benefits of celery are enormous ... so many good reason to make celery juice

As a child, did you enjoy snacking on celery and peanut butter? While many of us did, we probably weren't aware of the various benefits of celery. Humans have been growing various types of celery for hundreds of years.
Did you know that celery is a relative of carrots, parsley and dill? Here are some of the main health benefits of celery:

Hydrating

While fruits and vegetables are certainly healthy, certain types have more water than others do. Celery is one type of vegetable that contains an extremely high amount of water (one reason it makes great celery juice). Water is a crucial component of your diet, as it keeps your skin supple, detoxifies your body, maintains the proper body temperature, and so on.

Alkalizing

Alkalis are crucial for neutralizing the acids in your body. This is particularly important in today's world of fast food and junk food. Celery is one of the most effective foods for neutralizing acids.

Vitamins

Celery is packed with a variety of different vitamins, including Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, and C. So if you want to get more bang for your buck in terms of the number of vitamins that your veggies contain-celery is definitely one of the best options. Here are some of the main health benefits of celery, via the benefits of vitamins that they contain:
  • Vitamin A: eyesight.
  • Vitamin B1: brain
  • Vitamin B2: growth
  • Vitamin B6: metabolism
  • Vitamin C: antioxidants

Essential oils

These essential oils in celery can function as aromatherapy, resulting in a calming effect on your mind and body. So whether you eat celery raw or cook it in a dish, even the scent of the veggie can do wonders for your health!

Minerals and Elements

In the world of nutrition and the health benefits of celery, vitamins are typically in the spotlight. However, minerals and elements are also important for maintaining a healthy diet. In fact, did you know that about 99% of all Americans lack a sufficient amount of minerals and trace elements? The good news is that celery contains an array of minerals and elements, including calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and sodium. Each of these substances provides a different function in the human body, so it's crucial to consume a sufficient amount via foods and beverages. By eating some celery, you'll get all of these minerals and elements.

Amino Acids

Groups of amino acids build proteins, which are essential for good health. Technically speaking, "peptides" and "polypeptides" are groups of amino acids that form proteins. There are 20 types of amino acids that form proteins in our bodies. So "the more the merrier" rule certainly applies.

Sodium

While sodium usually creates negative connotations, our body needs a certain amount of it. Fortunately, celery is an organic source of sodium, and helps to create a balance of salt in our bodies. Thus, celery juice is ideal for hydration after a workout. These aforementioned features are some of the biggest health benefits of celery. While celery isn't as eye-catching as other types of veggies, it's full of good stuff that can help you to maintain a healthy body and mind.
