Making fruit smoothie recipes are easy and can be fitted into your daily routine with little difficulty, all you need is a blender.

Fruit smoothie recipes are a great way to eat your five a day if you don't particularly like fruit and even if you are like me and love fruit they are still a great tasting snack, light lunch or even dessert.

By making your own fruit smoothie recipes you know exactly what is in them unlike shop bought smoothies which can include colouring and preservatives.

Choose organic fruit as it is free from chemical residues.

Use fresh fruit which has been washed.

Use frozen fruit for a cooling smoothie in warm weather.

Here are some suggestions of fruit to get you started
strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, mangos, bananas, pineapples, oranges, dates, cranberries, melon, pomegranates, peaches, prunes, nectarines and gooseberries.

A few suggestions of liquids to add to your smoothies
Yogurt milk, cream, soya milk, goats milk, almond milk, coconut milk, fruit juice, herbal teas and honey to sweeten.


Fruit Smoothie Recipes


Serve all smoothies immediately as the layers will separate if left to sit.

Fruit Salad Smoothie
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 1teaspoon of honey
  • 1 banana
  • handful of strawberries
  • half a mango
Cut the flesh from the mango, peel the banana and pull the stalks out of the strawberries. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass to serve. If the mixture is a little thick for you, add more yogurt or a little milk.

Sweet Mango Nutty Smoothie
  • 2 medium mangos
  • 1 banana
  • 300ml almond milk
Peel the mangos and banana. Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass to serve immediately.

Afternoon Smoothie
  • 1 papaya
  • 1 orange
  • 1 banana
  • 300ml apple or pineapple juice
Deseed the papaya, peel and cut the orange into segments. Slice the banana.

Energy Smoothie
  • 4 slices of pineapple
  • 1 apple
  • 2 dates
  • 100mls of soya milk
Put everything into a blender and smoothe for about 30 seconds. Serve your fruit smoothie recipe in a tall glass.

Peanut Banana Smoothie
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of hot chocolate powder
  • a little milk
  • honey to taste
Put the banana, peanut butter and yogurt into a blender and smoothe for 30 seconds. Add a little milk if needed to thin the mixture. Add a teaspoon of honey to sweeten. Serve your peanut banana smoothie in a glass.

Chocolate Strawberry Dessert Smoothie
  • 1 banana
  • large handful of strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon of chocolate powder
  • 100mls of low fat milk or custard
Put all the ingredients into a blender for about 30 seconds. Pour into a dessert glass with ice, pouring whipped cream on top, finish with a sprinkle of shredded chocolate.
